Jenkins Docker Guides: Startup, Persistence and Backup Restore2
Begin with startup and persistent storage before attempting a backup restore. The examples use disposable controllers and compare HTTP readiness, a marker and the initial password. They do not prove production workload recovery or credential decryption.
Verify startup and persistence
Check readiness and preserved state after recreating a container.
- Jenkins in Docker: Verify Startup and Container Recreation
Run a disposable Jenkins controller by image digest, verify loopback HTTP readiness and recreate it against the same volume without logging the initial password.
Restore into a new volume
Stop the source controller, separate master.key from the archive and verify restored state.
- Jenkins Home Backup: Restore a Stopped Controller into a New Volume
Stop a lab controller, exclude master.key from its archive, restore that key separately and check a new-volume startup, marker and initial-password persistence.
